GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — The ambient temperatures at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) Kart Circuit were completely matched by the scorching action on the tarmac as Jumbo Jet Events successfully executed the first round of its high-octane 2026 Need for Speed Karting Championship on Saturday.
The tournament—which serves as the premier multi-round karting series in the country—drew a massive crowd of motorsports enthusiasts to the Thomas Lands tracks, showcasing drivers competing across an array of categories. The premier Briggs & Stratton Senior Light division saw international open-wheel racer Calvin Ming put on a pure masterclass in defensive line control, sweeping his early morning Heat, the Pre-Final, and the main feature Final ahead of Steven Nobrega. Ming pulled off a spectacular double on the day, also capturing the grueling Briggs Senior Heavy class, where he was made to work intensely for his podium victory, pipping Mikhail Persaud to the line in a dramatic photo-finish.
Other unchallenged standouts of the championship weekend included Matthew Daby, who cleanly swept the Briggs Junior tier to secure the champion driver award. GOLDEN GROVE, GUYANA — Ann’s Grove United emerged as one of the most successful football clubs over the weekend, executing highly disciplined defensive displays in the East Demerara Football Association’s (EDFA) 2026 Youth Ensemble League.
Stepping onto the pitch first in the Under-13 division, the Ann’s Grove youth team went head-to-head against a fiercely competitive and physically aggressive Mahaica Determinators squad. In a highly technical, end-to-end tactical battle where both defensive backlines refused to yield inside the final third, the two sides ultimately shared the points in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
However, Ann’s Grove found their offensive breakthrough in the Under-15 tier. Facing down a compact Melanie FC defensive system, Ann’s Grove relied on crisp, short-passing transitions to open up the flanks. The decisive moment arrived in the second half when star forward Tequan latched onto a beautiful cross, drilling home a clinical strike past the keeper. That solitary, brilliant goal proved to be the match-winner, locking down a narrow 1-0 shutout victory for Ann’s Grove United to bolster their standing in the regional youth table.

WARAMADONG, GUYANA — The Edwins United Sports Ground in Waramadong, Region Seven, became a cauldron of community celebration on Sunday evening as the curtain fell on the highly prestigious 2026 D.C. Caesar Fox Football Tournament with two dramatic grand finals.
In the highly competitive Men’s Championship final, the visiting team from Kako earned their crown as the regional champions by carving out a gritty, narrow 1-0 victory over a resilient Paruima squad. In a match defined by fierce physical tackles and high-altitude endurance, Kako’s defensive midfield managed to completely disrupt Paruima’s counter-attacking lanes, safeguarding their early first-half lead until the final whistle.
The Women’s grand final saw host side Waramadong continue their historic, absolute dominance in the inter-valley competition. Facing off against a determined Jawalla team, the Waramadong women utilized superior tactical shape and precise overlapping runs to orchestrate a comfortable 2-0 victory. The historic win marks Waramadong’s third consecutive consecutive tournament title, cementing their dynasty in the Upper Mazaruni football grid.
