
HGP Nightly News – Police have taken a 24-year-old woman into custody as investigations intensify into a deadly daylight shooting that claimed the life of a young driver in Linden.
The woman, who is from Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was arrested and is currently assisting investigators. Police also confirmed that a motor vehicle has been seized and is being processed as part of the ongoing probe.
The arrest follows an alleged murder that occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at about 15:00 hrs along Half Mile Public Road, Wismar, Linden.
Dead is Amar Jones, a 27-year-old driver of One Mile, Wismar, Linden.
According to preliminary police investigations, Jones was travelling in a motor canter along Half Mile Public Road when he was approached by a motor car. An unidentified male reportedly exited the vehicle and discharged several rounds in Jones’s direction before jumping back into the car and fleeing the scene.
When police ranks arrived, they found Jones motionless in the driver’s seat of the motor canter. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
Following the pronouncement, Jones’s body was taken to G-Jetsco Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The shooting, which unfolded in broad daylight, has rattled the Wismar community, raising fresh concerns about violent crime along public roadways.
Police have said investigations are continuing as they work to determine the motive for the attack and identify the shooter.
