GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — National cycling standout Brighton John once again asserted his absolute dominance on the local circuit, successfully capturing his third career Elite Men’s National Road Race Title following an exhausting, high-intensity 161km battle. John, who previously rode away with the prestigious crown in 2023 and 2024, utilized superior tactical pacing to distance the breakaway pack, crossing the finish line comfortably ahead of Andre Greene, who settled for a hard-fought second place, and Alex Mendes in third.
The standard-setting championship layout, coordinated by the Guyana Cycling Federation, also paved the way for a new generation of rising stars to sweep the junior divisions. Ajani Cutting delivered an impressive endurance performance to secure the Under-23 Men’s title, while Alex Newton out-sprinted his peers to claim the Men’s Junior Championship. Facing off against an energetic Timehri United FC lineup in a high-stakes grand final at the National Training Centre in Providence, the Georgetown-based club relied on clinical veteran composure to seal a comfortable 2-0 victory.
The championship-sealing goals were shared across the forward line, with Shane Jones opening the account early before the in-form Ozeal Small doubled the cushion in the 73rd minute to put the result beyond doubt. The dramatic win secures Camptown FC a historic direct promotion into the GFF Elite League Season 8 grid. While the defeat denied Timehri United an automatic ticket, their qualification hopes remain alive; the East Bank powerhouse will face two-time champions Fruta Conquerors FC on Wednesday in a do-or-die promotional playoff for the final remaining slot in the premier tournament.

LINDEN, GUYANA — The Region 10 zone of the GFF’s 2026 Blue Waters Shipping Under-15 Girls National Secondary School Championship kicked off with explosive action on Saturday, with Mackenzie High School executing a dominant double-header sweep at the Bayroc National Stadium.
The three-match regional cluster opened with a gritty, narrow defensive battle as Christianburg Wismar Secondary edges out Linden Foundation Secondary 1-0, powered by a decisive, late-game strike from Ronessa Stellingburg. However, Mackenzie High School quickly took over the afternoon’s narrative. In the second fixture, Mackenzie completely dismantled Christianburg Wismar 4-0, courtesy of an evenly distributed scoring sheet that saw Latifa George, Duon Cambridge, Mariann Hodge, and Ria Persaud all find the back of the net.
Mackenzie High then returned to the pitch to secure a 2-0 shutout over Linden Foundation Secondary. Region 10’s Most Outstanding Player, Duon Cambridge, delivered a brilliant double to seal the win, safely propelling her side into the tournament’s coveted national final round.

UITVLUGT, GUYANA — High school cricket prospects put on a clinical display of power-hitting and spin variations on Saturday as the inaugural Beharry Group of Companies’ Under-19 Schools T20 League completed two high-scoring quarter-final fixtures at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground in Region Three.
In the opening encounter, Essequibo Islands Secondary orchestrated a massive, record-breaking 179-run routing of Touschen Secondary. Navendra Persaud anchored the blistering innings with an unbeaten, half-century knock of 52, while Player of the Match Aarav Suckhram smashed a supportive 42. Touschen’s batting lineup was subsequently dismantled by a relentless bowling attack spearheaded by Demarcus Thomas and Feyad Baksh, who each claimed identical, restrictive figures of 3 wickets.
The secondary feature saw Saint Stanislaus College cruise to a comfortable 4-wicket victory over the New Central High School. BRISTOL, ENGLAND — A masterful, three-wicket bowling display by skipper Hayley Matthews propelled the West Indies Women to a commanding 5-wicket victory over Sri Lanka on Sunday, extending their uncompromised streak in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
