BRAZIL โ€“ Bomb Plot Foiled Ahead of Lady Gagaโ€™s Historic Rio Concert

Brazilian police say they thwarted a planned bomb attack targeting Lady Gagaโ€™s record-breaking concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, which drew over 2.1 million attendees on Saturday.

Authorities say the plot was orchestrated by an online extremist group promoting hate speech, self-harm, and radical violence among teenagers. Police reports revealed the group had recruited minors to execute coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.

Shockingly, the suspects claimed affiliation with Gagaโ€™s fan base, known as the โ€œLittle Monstersโ€. The operation was based on digital intelligence gathered by Brazilโ€™s cybercrime unit following a tip from local police.

Officials say the threat was neutralized in time, and no disruptions occurred during the American pop iconโ€™s performance.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO โ€“ New Prime Minister Targets Tax Authority Reform

Moments after swearing in 32 government members, newly seated Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago announced her administrationโ€™s first priorityโ€”the dismantling of the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority (TTRA).

โ€œWe must repeal the Revenue Authority Act,โ€ she declared, to rousing applause.

The TTRA was originally introduced in 2021 by the former PNM government as part of a national tax reform to replace the Inland Revenue Division and Customs and Excise Department. Critics had raised concerns about its structure and transparency.

The Prime Minister pledged sweeping legislative reforms as her administration sets to work.

MEXICO โ€“ Trump Confirms Troop Offer to Mexico, President Rejects

In a stunning international development, former U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed offering to send American troops to Mexico to help fight drug cartelsโ€”a proposal that was flatly rejected by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Speaking from Air Force One, Trump said the cartels were โ€œhorrible peopleโ€ causing thousands of deaths and claimed Sheinbaum was โ€œtoo afraid of the cartels to think straight.โ€

President Sheinbaum, addressing the matter Saturday, responded forcefully:

โ€œSovereignty is not for sale. We welcome cooperation but will never accept U.S. military presence on Mexican soil.โ€

The incident has sparked debate over sovereignty, security collaboration, and diplomatic boundaries between the two nations.
