The five-player international cohort brings considerable experience to the local franchise. The top order will receive a significant boost from New Zealand powerhouse Glenn Phillips and explosive Afghan wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz, creating a well-balanced squad designed to build on the Warriors’ strong playoff run in the 2025 season.

Black Caps Secure Comfortable 6-Wicket Win at Providence to Claim 2-1 ODI Series Lead

PROVIDENCE, GUYANA — A batting collapse cost the West Indies dearly on Thursday as New Zealand secured a dominant 6-wicket victory in the third One-Day International (ODI) at the Guyana National Stadium, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match bilateral series.

“We simply did not put enough runs on the board to give our bowlers a fighting chance,” stand-in West Indies captain Shai Hope admitted during the post-match presentation. “Losing wickets in clusters during the middle overs completely broke our momentum.”

After being sent in to bat on a sticky Providence track, the regional team’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure from the Black Caps’ disciplined bowling. The home side was bundled out for a disappointing 140 runs in 37.1 overs. Middle-order batsman Keacy Carty offered the lone resistance with a gritty top score of 48, while Kiwi left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox tore through the order, returning excellent figures of 4 for 52.

The target proved far too small to test the visitors. New Zealand chased it down easily, reaching 141 for 4 in 39.3 overs. Experienced middle-order batsman Tom Latham guided his side home with a calm, unbeaten 31. Young regional bowler Vitel Lawes was the standout performer for the West Indies bowling unit, but his economical spell couldn’t prevent a second consecutive loss for the home side. The West Indies will look to bounce back when the series shifts to the Kensington Oval in Barbados for the fourth ODI, scheduled to start at 10:30 AM on Sunday.
