Trinidad and Tobago PM Rejects Venezuelan Claims of Paramilitary Infiltration
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has strongly denied recent Venezuelan allegations that paramilitary operatives entered Venezuela from Trinidad and Tobago. The claim, widely circulated in both Venezuelan and local media, suggested that a Trinidadian national, Kendall Jerome, was among those captured.
“I say categorically, we have no evidence to validate this at this point,” Persad-Bissessar stated during a press briefing.
She also issued a stern warning to Venezuelan authorities, saying:
“They can do whatever they want on Venezuelan territory, but Trinidad and Tobago is off-limits.”
The Prime Minister urged Caracas to refrain from any violations of national sovereignty and made it clear that Trinidad will not tolerate unauthorized cross-border activity.
