CAUGHT ON CAMERA: ‘SMART CITY’ SURVEILLANCE TRACE KILLERS

​GEORGETOWN – Police have announced a major breakthrough in the senseless murder of 24-year-old Faynel Brewster, whose life was tragically cut short during a failed robbery attempt last Sunday in West Ruimveldt. The arrests were made possible by the government’s widespread surveillance system, confirming that the attackers were caught on camera before and after the fatal shooting.​

Intensive investigative work, utilizing the Government’s Smart City Surveillance Cameras, allowed ranks to trace the movements of the suspects who pursued Brewster’s brother on a black XR motorcycle prior to the incident.​ Following the forensic tracing, a targeted police operation was launched, leading senior officers to Morcourt Square, East La Penitence.

The operation resulted in three suspects being taken into custody: two male suspects, aged 25 and 29 (identified as an operator from Herstelling and a farmer from Buxton), along with a 25-year-old female vendor from Morcourt Square.

​The operation yielded crucial evidence linking the suspects to the crime. During a search of the premises, police seized:​ 50 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, a black Honda XR motorcycle believed to be the getaway vehicle used in the commission of the murder.​

The police have lodged the seized items as evidence. All three persons remain in custody assisting with the investigation as police continue to pursue additional leads.
