WOOD, MASSY AND TAGMAN LAUNCH NEW JOINT VENTURE OFFERING ENGINEERING STUDIES, DESIGN, MAINTENANCE AND PROJECT READINESS SOLUTIONS

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — In a major move for the local energy landscape, Wood, Massy, and Tagman Media have officially launched WMT Guyana at the 2026 Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo. The joint venture represents a significant evolution in local content, with Tagman Media holding a 51% majority share, ensuring the entity is Guyanese-led and locally anchored.

The new partnership absorbs the existing Massy Wood Group Guyana Inc. and is positioned to provide end-to-end engineering, operations, and project management services for the country’s booming offshore and onshore assets.

A Milestone for Local Content

The formation of WMT Guyana is being hailed as a “case study” in successful local content partnership. By combining the global engineering pedigree of Wood (a UK-based giant) with the regional logistics power of Massy and the local strategic leadership of Tagman, the entity aims to set a new standard for Guyanese participation in the oil and gas sector.

  • Engineering & Design: Providing front-end engineering studies and complex design services for brownfield and greenfield projects.
  • Maintenance & Readiness: Offering specialized brownfield maintenance and project readiness solutions to ensure safe and reliable energy production.
  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Delivering services that cover the entire life of an energy asset, from initial concept to eventual decommissioning.

The Leadership Team

The venture brings together seasoned executives from the energy, logistics, and media sectors to guide its strategic direction:

Ulex Smith of Tagman Media noted that the venture’s primary goal is to “elevate the sector” by blending international safety and technical standards with local expertise.

Transitioning from Massy Wood

The launch marks a seamless transition for Massy Wood Guyana. Clients and regulators can expect a continuity of service, but with a deepened focus on investing in Guyanese talent and building a locally driven supply chain.

  • Guyanese Talent: WMT Guyana has committed to an aggressive training and recruitment drive to ensure that the majority of its technical and engineering roles are held by Guyanese nationals.
  • Sustainability: The partnership emphasizes “sustainable outcomes,” aligning its operations with Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2030.

“This collaboration represents an evolution… reflecting a shared dedication to creating a robust, locally anchored operational platform under Guyanese leadership,” the company stated during the launch at the Marriott Hotel.
