Elections 2025 have been described as one of the most crucial in Guyana’s modern history, with six political parties contesting Monday’s General and Regional Elections.
When Nightly News visited several polling stations across Region Six, which hosts approximately 435 polling stations, it appeared that voter turnout was relatively low. By midday, reporters observed a noticeable decline in polling day activities, with fewer electors making their way to the ballot box compared to previous elections.
Some residents suggested that many voters may have opted to cast their ballots earlier in the morning, while others expressed concern that turnout might not pick up before the close of polls.
Election officials on the ground, however, reported that the process remained peaceful, orderly, and efficient, with no significant disruptions noted across the region.
