SING NOW, CANARY! APNU WANTS MOHAMED TO ‘COME CLEAN’ WITH CORRUPTION EVIDENCE

GEORGETOWN – The A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has delivered a stinging ultimatum to designated to Leader of WIN Azruddin Mohamed, demanding that he either publicly disclose the incriminating evidence he claims to possess against government officials or stop using it as political leverage. This fierce challenge comes as Mohamed and his father, Nazar Mohamed, face a serious U.S. federal indictment on 11 charges of alleged tax fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.

The APNU’s statement today underscored that the rule of law and principles of natural justice must apply equally to every citizen, whether they are a gold magnate or an ordinary Guyanese. The coalition stressed that while Mohamed is innocent until proven guilty, the mere act of facing such an indictment, linked to the alleged under-reporting of billions of dollars in income to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) between 2019 and 2023, is grounds for public accountability.

The Canary and the Lamborghini Scandal

The coalition specifically called out the new Opposition Leader’s recent threats, which allegedly implied he was prepared to “sing like a canary” if pushed. APNU argued that such remarks amount to “veiled threats rather than transparency” and that the public deserves honesty, not political extortion.

APNU recalled Mohamed’s previous claims regarding the infamous Lamborghini tax evasion scandal, where he allegedly possessed text exchanges with President Irfaan Ali that purportedly implicated the Head of State in the matter. The coalition demanded that if Mohamed has credible information on criminal conduct by public officials, it is his “civic and moral duty” to present it to law enforcement or the public immediately.

Integrity vs. Ambition

APNU warned that mere declarations of innocence are insufficient given the gravity of the charges, urging Mohamed to disclose financial records that could demonstrate compliance with Guyanese tax laws. The coalition concluded that while the legal process must run its course, Mohamed must “come clean” and not use the information he claims he possesses as leverage for political advantage. The message is a direct challenge to the integrity of the Opposition’s future leadership.
