President Irfaan Ali has taken his full Cabinet to Region Six for two days of on-the-ground engagements, as the Government intensifies its push to address daily challenges faced by citizens across Guyana’s ten administrative regions.
“Government Will Operate From a Different Region Every Month”
President Ali reiterated his administration’s commitment to bringing government directly to the people—a strategy first implemented during his initial term in office.
“As part of our commitment, over the next two days the whole of government and the Cabinet will be operating from Region Six,” the President said. “All of government, led by the Office of the President, will be operating from a different administrative region every month.”
Direct Engagements With Communities and Regional Leadership
Over the two-day outreach, the President and Cabinet Ministers will meet extensively with:
- Regional officials
- Community leaders
- Residents across multiple communities
The aim is to hear firsthand about priority issues affecting households and identify solutions in real time.
“The entire Cabinet will have several outreaches this week, understanding the priorities from the ground,” the President noted.
Monitoring Projects and Aligning With Budget 2026
President Ali said that ministers will visit ongoing development projects throughout Region Six to inspect progress and gather real-time updates. Information gathered will be integrated into:
- The national development strategy
- The preparation of Budget 2026
- The administration’s wider goal of improving household-level outcomes
The President recently announced that a real-time digital monitoring system for national projects will be launched soon. Until then, these regional engagements offer ministries a firsthand look at what is happening on the ground.
Ongoing Challenges in Region Six
According to residents and regional officials, Region Six continues to face several significant issues, including:
- Infrastructure deficits
- Incomplete or delayed road and drainage works
- Economic pressures
- Social issues
- Difficulty accessing reliable water supply
Despite the PPP/C holding office for more than three decades, many residents say they want more frequent government engagement, especially in communities facing persistent challenges.
President Ali’s latest move signals a renewed effort to increase accessibility and responsiveness nationwide.
