POLICE PUT ON ALERT: REGION 7 COMMANDER RALLIES RANKS FOR ELECTION DUTY

Bartica, Guyana – With just days to go before Guyanese head to the polls, the Guyana Police Force has intensified its operational build-up in Region Seven. On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Commander of the Division, Assistant Commissioner D. Moore, flanked by Deputy Commander D. Handy, led a pre-election operational muster to sharpen readiness for the upcoming General and Regional Elections.

The Commander used the occasion to remind ranks that musters are more than roll calls—they are about discipline and presentation. He stressed that neatness matters: uniforms must be spotless, boots gleaming, and insignia properly displayed. “Appearance reflects discipline and sets the tone for professionalism in the execution of duties,” Moore told his officers.

But the message was not just about polish and shine. Moore drilled down on election preparedness, warning ranks to remain vigilant, alert, and ready to respond decisively to any situation. Coordination, communication, and strict adherence to the command structure, he said, would be crucial in maintaining order during one of the most important national exercises in years.

In a stern directive, the Commander also addressed the use of cell phones. Officers, he cautioned, are prohibited from carrying phones into polling stations when casting their votes on August 22 and must avoid using phones while on duty on Election Day. The restriction, he explained, is aimed at safeguarding efficiency, security, and the integrity of the electoral process.

Before dismissing the ranks, Moore commended their dedication and charged them to uphold the integrity and reputation of the Guyana Police Force. He reminded them that their role will be pivotal in ensuring a safe, peaceful, and transparent election across Region Seven.
