The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched a full investigation into a disturbing incident in Regional Division One after a video surfaced online showing a police rank brandishing an AK-47 rifle and behaving in a disorderly manner. The video, posted on the “Wii Investigation Wind Party” Facebook page, has sparked public concern and raised questions about professional conduct within the force.

According to an official statement, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an immediate and thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The rank seen in the video has since been placed under close arrest, while the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has been directed to begin a detailed investigation.

The GPF emphasized that the matter is being handled with the “utmost seriousness,” noting that the contents of the video will form part of the ongoing inquiry. Investigators are expected to determine the full extent of any disciplinary and possible criminal actions to be taken against the officer involved.

In its statement, the force reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability across all ranks. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
