GEORGETOWN – The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) has moved to publicly close ranks following recent internal turbulence, with its Central Executive Committee (CEC) holding its first full meeting yesterday since the 2025 General Elections.
The high-stakes convention was convened to chart the party’s strategic direction amid speculation of internal strife. The CEC directly addressed a series of recent, unspecified developments, including the high-profile resignation of certain members from the committee.
In response, the leadership announced the immediate elevation of two new members to the CEC, signaling an effort to fill the void and move forward. Crucially, the CEC delivered a powerful vote of confidence, reaffirming its “complete confidence in the leadership of Aubrey C. Norton” and backing his continued role as the Party Leader during a crucial rebuilding process.
The committee emphatically stressed that its Leader can only be removed at a duly convened Party Congress, strictly in accordance with the Party’s constitution. In a direct rejection of media speculation and public dissent, the CEC firmly assured the party’s membership that there is no “trouble within the PNCR’s camp.” The committee stated that “public grievances by a few persons will not defeat the Party’s reactivation of political will and resilience.”
Moving past the internal controversy, the PNCR reiterated its core commitment to strengthening its organizational structure and engaging in aggressive community outreach. The party’s stated goal is to bolster its membership and pursue its “fearless aspiration for the growth of the Guyanese people.”
The meeting concluded with a clear message: the party is united behind Norton and focused squarely on rebuilding its political momentum.
