
Georgetown, Guyana – September 25, 2025 – A Parfaite Harmonie man accused of swiping over $5 million in cash from the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has been remanded to prison.
The accused, 40-year-old Dikimbie Gittens, an Assistant Accountant of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara, appeared today before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. He was charged with Larceny by Clerk or Servant: Contrary to Section 184 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
The allegation is that between September 15 and 16, 2025, Gittens stole the cash from the GECOM Secretariat at Barrack and Fort Streets, Kingston, Georgetown.
Gittens was not required to plead to the indictable charge. Bail was denied, and he was remanded to prison until October 15.
The high-profile case has stunned the elections body, especially after investigators reportedly recovered a portion of the stolen funds during their probe.
