For the first time in Guyana, Chinese technology giant Huawei has launched its global eKit initiative, unveiling a state-of-the-art flagship store at the Royal International Hotel and Mall in Georgetown.

The launch marks a milestone in Guyanaโ€™s digital transformation journey, offering secure, affordable, and innovative technology solutions for local businesses, as well as public and private institutions.

Huawei eKit: Powering Small and Medium Enterprises

The Huawei eKit is a global sub-brand tailored specifically for the distribution market, delivering scenario-based technology solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Currently available in over 100 countries, the platform provides high-speed, reliable, and secure technologiesโ€”from interactive smart classroom tools and comprehensive hospitality networks to advanced home automation systems and robust security frameworks.

Project Manager Janelle Persaud said the launch goes beyond selling devices, aligning instead with Guyanaโ€™s broader digital growth and infrastructure transformation.

โ€œWeโ€™ve made a substantial initial investment, and this store marks the beginning of our journey. Our vision extends beyond this location; we plan to roll out multiple outlets nationwide, collaborating with resellers and small businesses to amplify access and affordability,โ€ Persaud explained.

She described eKitโ€™s devicesโ€”such as routers, switches, access points, surveillance systems, and smart collaboration toolsโ€”as the โ€œworkhorsesโ€ powering modern enterprises and advancing connectivity across sectors.

Empowering Businesses Through Technology

Lin Liang, Huaweiโ€™s Director of Commercial and Distribution Sales for Multi-Countries, highlighted eKitโ€™s role in empowering SMEs across education, healthcare, retail, and hospitality.

โ€œBy initiating this venture to provide cutting-edge technology to Guyana, I am confident that this sub-brand will empower small and medium business owners to embrace the most cost-effective and advanced technological solutions available in the local market,โ€ Liang stated.

Government Endorses Guyanaโ€™s Digital Drive

Delivering remarks on behalf of Prime Minister Retโ€™d Brigadier Mark Phillips, Minister with Responsibility for Public Affairs Kwame McCoy reaffirmed governmentโ€™s commitment to digital transformation.

โ€œWe have embarked on an extensive digital transformation programme aimed at connecting our diverse population from hinterland to coastland, ensuring that every citizen has equitable access to vital information and communication resources,โ€ McCoy said.

A Vibrant Launch for a Digital Future

The launch event featured cultural performances, a live demonstration of Huawei eKitโ€™s smart technology by Marlon Aaron Bally, and an interactive networking session showcasing the platformโ€™s innovative solutions.

Positioned as a central hub for distribution, technical support, and customer engagement, Huawei eKit Guyana will deliver a range of products including Wi-Fi 7 access points, intelligent collaboration systems, and full-optical gatewaysโ€”all designed to meet the growing technological needs of education, hospitality, healthcare, and residential sectors.
