GUYANA HOSTS REGIONAL ANTI-DOPING TRAINING WORKSHOP

Guyana is this week hosting a three-day Regional Anti-Doping Training Workshop, organized in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO).

The initiative, which runs from October 24 to 26, 2025, aims to enhance testing procedures and strengthen compliance standards across the region.

The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) is coordinating the training locally, with sessions conducted by experts from the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES).

Representatives from ten Caribbean nations are participating in the workshop, which is designed to equip officials with the skills to carry out accurate and professional sample collection in line with the World Anti-Doping Code.

The timing of the event comes as Caribbean athletes prepare for a packed 2026 sports calendar, including the CAC Games in the Dominican Republic, the Commonwealth Games in Scotland, and the Youth Olympic Games in Senegal.

The programme was officially launched today with an opening ceremony at the Olympic House in Liliendaal.


PMTC VOLLEYBALL TEAMS DEPART FOR ST. LUCIA GOODWILL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Port Mourant Training Centre (PMTC) male and female volleyball teams departed Guyana on Thursday to compete in the Club Goodwill Championship in St. Lucia.

The 24-member delegation will face national under-23 squads and is expected to return on October 27.

Male captain Devendra Latchman, female captain Rennia Liverpool, and coach Levi Nedd expressed confidence that the team will uphold Guyanaโ€™s sporting reputation with excellence and sportsmanship.


WOMENโ€™S DIVISION 1 LEAGUE RESUMES TONIGHT

Action resumed tonight in the Guyana Football Federationโ€™s Division 1 Womenโ€™s League 2025 with two fixtures at the National Training Centre in Providence.

The first matchup featured Annโ€™s Grove United versus Monnederlust FC, while the second match, now underway, features Riversโ€™ View United FC against Fruta Conquerors.


MENโ€™S LEAGUE ACTION CONTINUES AT EVE LEARY

The Georgetown Football Associationโ€™s Senior Menโ€™s League 2025 also resumed tonight at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.

The first game featured Riddim Squad FC against Motherland FC, while the second match, currently ongoing, pits Beacon FC against Order and Discipline FC.


ELITE LEAGUE SEASON 7 GRAND FINALE SET FOR SATURDAY

The curtain will close on Season 7 of the Guyana Football Federationโ€™s Elite League on Saturday at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.

The first match features Den Amstel FC taking on Guyana Police Force FC, followed by the marquee clash between reigning champions Slingerz FC and Guyana Defence Force FC.


COURTS OPTICAL PEEWEE U-11 QUARTERFINALS SET FOR SATURDAY

The Courts Optical PeeWee Under-11 Tournament enters the quarterfinal stage on Saturday, October 25, at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Matches begin at 11:00 hrs, starting with Tucville Primary vs. Leonora Primary, followed by St. John the Baptist Primary vs. St. Gabrielโ€™s Primary.

In other fixtures, St. Pius Primary faces Redeemer Primary, while West Ruimveldt Primary takes on Agatash Primary to conclude the dayโ€™s action.
