GDF Gym Gears Up for Terrence Poole Championships
The Guyana Defence Force Gym says it’s ready for battle at the Terrence Poole Intermediate Boxing Championships set for October 25–27, 2025. Head Coach Eon Bancroft is confident his fighters will repeat last year’s dominance across all divisions. The tournament honors the late Terrence Poole, who served Guyanese boxing for over 40 years before his passing in 2024.
Essequibo Crush Berbice by 118 Runs in Inter-County Clash
In the GCB Queensway Security Senior Men’s Inter-County Tournament, Essequibo thrashed Berbice by 118 runs at Lusignan.
Kevon Bodie (74) and Quinton Sampson (55) led Essequibo to 288–9, before Golcharran Chulai ripped through Berbice with 4–48.
Berbice managed just 170, despite Tomani Caesar’s 57.
Inter-County action continues this weekend with Essequibo vs GCB Select XI on Saturday and Berbice vs Demerara on Sunday.
Camptown and Pele Dominate GFA Senior Men’s League
At Eve Leary, Camptown FC beat Ordis FC 2–0, thanks to a brace from Marlon Bethel, while Pele FC dismantled Eastveldt 3–0, led by Orlando Lovell’s hat-trick.
Tonight, Northern Rangers face Genesis, followed by Blackpearl vs Vengy in continued league action.
Elite League Set for High-Stakes Saturday Showdowns
The GFF Elite League continues Saturday at Providence’s National Training Centre.
At 6:30 PM, Fruta Conquerors meet Santos FC, followed by a 9:00 PM clash between league leaders Slingerz FC and Guyana Police Force FC.
Petra Secures Major Sponsorship for U18 Football League
The Petra Organisation has teamed up with Ronoca Concrete Inc. to power the 2025 Republic Bank U18 Secondary School Football League, kicking off Sunday, October 19, at the MOE Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Meanwhile, Round of 16 action continues in the Petra Pee-Wee U11 Championship and GFF–Blue Water Shipping U15 Girls Championship, with games set for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
