Track & Field:
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. says the synthetic warm-up track at the Leonora Stadium is now 90% complete and on schedule for finishing in the coming weeks. The new facility strengthens Guyana’s capacity to host international meets, aligning with President Ali’s vision to make Guyana a global sports destination.

Football:
In the GFF Women’s Division 1 League, Santos FC crushed Den Amstel FC 5–1 at Providence. Afeena Baptiste dazzled with a hat-trick, while Tyneshia Thorne and Gabriel Rivera added goals. Kellyann Ellis netted Den Amstel’s lone strike.
In the second game, Guyana Police Force FC dominated Mainstay Goldstars 3–0, thanks to goals from Allia Alleyne, Shanic Thornhill, and Lezandra Henrito.

Golf:
Chet Bowling, Secretary of the Lusignan Golf Club, celebrated a podium finish at the DSB Suriname Invitational 2025, calling it a “personal and national win.” He says the strong LGC showing signals Guyana’s rise in regional golf and sets the stage for the Brava Guyana Open on November 1–2. Bowling also invited Surinamese golfers to return for “friendly rivalry” at Lusignan.

Local Cricket:
Malteenoes SC and Bel Air Rubis shined in the GCA Mayor and Friends U-17 Tournament, with standout performances from Aruna Gainda (69 runs, 2 wickets) and Nathaniel Ramkhelwan (57 runs).
Despite rain halting play between GCC and DCC, Nathan Bishop remained unbeaten on 48. In bowling, Joshua Budhram (5–42) and Deshawn Ramnauth (4–35) impressed for Malteenoes, while Shahid Ramzan starred all-round for GCC with 3–7 and 25 runs.

West Indies Cricket:
Cricket West Indies has named a 15-member ODI squad for the Bangladesh series (Oct 18–23). Shai Hope leads the side, backed by young guns Alick Athanaze, Ackeem Auguste, and Jediah Blades, alongside veterans Roston Chase, Brandon King, and Romario Shepherd.
The bowling attack features Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Gudakesh Motie, with Sherfane Rutherford and Khary Pierre adding depth.
