Caribbean Clash of the Champions Thrills at South Dakota Circuit

The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) hosted its 2025 Caribbean Clash of the Champions on Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit, drawing intense regional competition.

Davendra Chattergoon swept the Rookie Category, while in the Superbike class, Dan Linfoot, Gregg Black, and Matthew Vieira each claimed one race victory.

In the Starlet Cup, Steven Nobrega took first place ahead of Anthony Evelyn and Anand Ramchand. The Group 2 title went to Shan Seejattan, while Stefan Jeffrey dominated Group 3.

The feature GT3 and Group 4 combined showdown saw Quinlal Lall win Group 4, while 20-year-old UK driver Will Redford captured the GT3 title, outperforming veteran Mark Vieira.


Persaud and Sukhram Claim 14th Titles at Brava Guyana Open 2025

The Brava Guyana Open 2025 wrapped up at the Lusignan Golf Club over the weekend with Avinash Persaud and Christine Sukhram reaffirming their dominance โ€” each winning their 14th championship title.

Persaud edged Surinameโ€™s Ridel Doeko in a dramatic countback after both tied on 151 gross, while Sukhramโ€™s steady play earned her the Ladies Overall Best Gross (176).

Other standout performers included Eureka Giddings, who captured the Ladies Best Net (151), and Rakesh Harry, who topped the Menโ€™s 0โ€“28 category with a 135 net score.

During the presentation, Brava Sales Lead Andrea King commended the clubโ€™s ongoing excellence in promoting golf across Guyana.


Team Guyana Strikes Gold at South American U-20 Championships

At the South American U-20 Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru, Team Guyana secured two medals.
The menโ€™s 4x400m relay team of Tishawn Easton, Kaidon Persaud, Skylar Charles, and Jevon Roberts stormed to gold in 3:14.40, while Roberts also took bronze in the 800m.

Other athletes, including Onesi Dunn and Rodell Greene, gave strong showings in their respective sprint and field events.


Leonora Primary Crowned 2025 Pee-Wee Football Champions

Leonora Primary were crowned 2025 Courts Optical Pee-Wee Football Champions after edging St. John the Baptist Primary 6โ€“5 on penalties following a goalless draw at the Ministry of Education Ground.

In the third-place playoff, West Ruimveldt Primary beat Redeemer Primary 1โ€“0, with Ceon Rajkumar scoring the decisive goal.


Northern Rangers and Genesis FC Triumph in GFA Senior League

Fridayโ€™s fixtures in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Senior Menโ€™s League at Eve Leary saw Northern Rangers edge Vengy FC 3โ€“2, thanks to goals from Atto Jones and Donald Mackenzie, while goalkeeper Jamal Hinds was named Player of the Match.

Genesis FC defeated The Motherland FC 2โ€“1, with Michael Oie netting both goals in a standout performance.


Essequibo and Demerara Share 2025 Inter-County Cricket Title

The 2025 Queensway Security Inc. Senior Menโ€™s Inter-County Final ended dramatically in a tie between Demerara and Essequibo at Hampton Court.

Both sides posted 150 runs, with Matthew Nandu (35) top-scoring for Demerara and Thaddeus Lovell (42) leading Essequiboโ€™s reply.

With time expiring before a Super Over could be played, both teams were declared joint champions.

Ronaldo Ali-Mohamed claimed Player of the Match for his 4โ€“45, while Nandu took home MVP honors and the award for Most Runs (224).
Ali-Mohamed and Richie Looknauth shared the Most Wickets title (9 each).

Cricket fans now await the announcement of the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad for the upcoming CG United Super50 in Trinidad and Tobago.
