ATHLETICS: ARCHIBALD CLAIMS BRONZE AT ISLAMIC SOLIDARITY GAMES
Team Guyana has secured another podium finish at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, which concluded Thursday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
National long jump record holder Emanuel Archibald delivered a strong performance to claim bronze in the menโs long jump. His best leap of 7.56m placed him behind Senegalโs Amath Faye and gold medallist Anvar Anvarov of Uzbekistan.
Archibald now joins womenโs 100m bronze medallist Keliza Smith as the only two Guyanese athletes to medal at this yearโs Games.
Other notable Guyanese performances included:
- Leslain Baird finishing 4th in the menโs javelin with a seasonโs best 72.26m
- A quarterfinal appearance by Chelsea Edghill, the two-time Olympian who has once again broken into the international table tennis rankings
FOOTBALL: MVP SPORTS GIRLS U-11 TOURNAMENT CONTINUES
The 2025 MVP Sports Girls Under-11 Football Tournament continues this Saturday with 16 fixtures at the Ministry of Education Ground.
The first match kicks off at 10:00 hrs, featuring Potaro Primary vs Genesis Primary.

The 2025 Republic Bank Under-18 Schools Football League continues Sunday with four fixtures at the Ministry of Education Ground.

CRICKET: WINDIES FACE NEW ZEALAND IN FINAL ODI
Cricket action continues tonight as the West Indies face New Zealand in the final ODI of the series, starting at 21:00 hrs at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
The Windies are seeking a consolation victory after losing the first two matches of the three-game series.
So far, the regional side has managed only one win on their current tour, having dropped the five-match T20I series 3โ1.
Attention will next turn to the three-match Test series, beginning December 1 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
