Guyana Basketball Federation to Host U23 3×3 Club Championship
As part of its National 3×3 Development Plan, the Guyana Basketball Federation is set to host the U23 3×3 Club Championship on February 28 at the Campbellville Basketball Court in Georgetown.
The one-day tournament will feature approximately 40 players representing 10 teams from across the country. Organisers say the event is aimed at strengthening club-level competition while preparing young athletes for upcoming international assignments, including the South American Youth Games.
Schools Basketball League Continues With Thrilling Encounters
Basketball action also continued in the 2026 Schools Basketball League, with two fixtures played in Georgetown on Friday and another on Sunday.
On Friday, the Government Technical Institute secured a hard-fought double-overtime victory over St. Roseโs High School, while St. Stanislaus College defeated Marian Academy 50โ31.
On Sunday, Presidentโs College edged Queenโs College 45โ44 in a tightly contested matchup.
The league resumes on Friday, February 13, with three fixtures across Georgetown. Queenโs College will face the Government Technical Institute at the QC Court from 16:00hrs, while St. Stanislaus College takes on Presidentโs College at the Burnham Court. The final game of the day, scheduled for 16:15hrs, will see Marian Academy clash with St. Roseโs High at the Marian Court.
MODEC Tertiary Football Tournament Delivers Goals Galore
In football, action continued in the MODEC Tertiary Football Tournament with two matches at the Scotts Ground in New Amsterdam on Tuesday and one fixture at the Bayroc National Stadium in Linden on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Centre thrashed the University of Guyana Tain Campus 6โ0, powered by a hat-trick from Joshaun Marshall. Solomon Lowefield added a brace, while Raevon Simon also found the net.
In the second match, the New Amsterdam Technical Institute defeated the Port Mourant Technical Institute 2โ1, with Feaad Hussein scoring twice. Akadien Kenneth netted the lone goal for Port Mourant.
On Wednesday, the Linden Technical Institute secured a 2โ1 win over the Cyril Potter College of Education. Trevon George scored for the losing side, while Darnell Profit and Krishtian Louis were on target in the win.
Georgetown Senior Menโs League Resumes Tonight
Football action also resumes tonight in the Georgetown Football Association Senior Menโs League with two fixtures at the Plaisance Community Centre Ground.
The opening match features Motherland FC against Camptown FC, followed by a 21:00hrs clash between Vengy FC and North Stars FC.
West Indies Defeat England in ICC Menโs T20 World Cup
In cricket, action continued in the ICC Menโs T20 World Cup, with the West Indies cricket team defeating England cricket team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Batting first after being sent in, the West Indies posted 196โ6 from their 20 overs. Sherfane Rutherford was named Player of the Match after an unbeaten 76 off 42 balls, while Roston Chase contributed 34 and Jason Holder added 33. For England, Adil Rashid and Jamie Overton each claimed two wickets.
In reply, England were bowled out for 166 in 19 overs. Gudakesh Motie led the bowling attack with 3 for 33, while Chase supported with 2 for 29.
The West Indies will next face Nepal cricket team at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
