Athletics: Springer and Austin Secure 400m Gold at CARIFTA 2026
Guyana’s national anthem played twice on Saturday at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada, as our Under-20 stars dominated the quarter-mile events.
- Three-Peat for Springer: Tianna Springer cemented her legacy as one of the region’s greatest junior sprinters by securing her third consecutive CARIFTA 400m title. Competing in the U-20 Girls final, she clocked a dominant 52.83 seconds to outclass the field.
- Austin’s Blistering Finish: In the U-20 Boys 400m, Malachi Austin delivered a world-class performance, stopping the clock at 46.01 seconds to take the gold. Austin beat out Zion Davis of the Bahamas and Jamaica’s Jabari Matheson in a statement win for Guyanese male sprinting.
Hockey: Guyana Masters Secure 3rd Place Finish in South Africa
Team Guyana has returned from the 2026 World Masters Hockey Tournament in Cape Town, South Africa, with their heads held high after a grueling competition featuring over 100 teams.
- Podium Finish: The Men’s Over 40 team secured a prestigious 3rd place finish, proving Guyana’s veteran sticks can compete with the best in the world.
- Tournament Stats: Guyana’s various teams combined for 56 goals throughout the tournament.

Cricket: Australia Women Dominate West Indies to Sweep Series
It was a tough day at the office for the West Indies Women at Warner Park, St. Kitts, as they fell to a clinical Australian side in the 3rd and final CG United ODI.
