GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — Marcus Keiler captured the Elite and Overall titles at the Guyana Cycling Federation’s 2026 National Time Trials, outlasting a star-studded field on the National Park’s inner circuit in Georgetown on Sunday.
Keiler powered through the technical closed-circuit course to stop the clock in a blistering 22 minutes and 10.00 seconds flat. His victory came by the narrowest of margins, forcing defending champion Aaron Newton into second place after Newton crossed the line just milliseconds later in 22:10.60.
Despite losing the overall crown, Newton successfully retained his Under-23 national title. Promising wheelsman Alexander Leung also successfully defended his Junior division title to maintain his dominance in the youth ranks. In the female categories, veteran rider Denise Jeffrey produced a commanding ride to secure the Ladies Elite title, while Tandeia Noel cross-pedaled her way to victory to emerge as the new Ladies Junior Champion. Playing under the floodlights at the GFF National Training Centre (NTC) in Providence, Marian Academy faced off against bitter rivals Chase Academic Foundation in the final zonal fixture. The intensely physical and tactical encounter ended in a 0-0 stalemate after both defensive backlines refused to yield.
The draw was enough to push Marian Academy to the top of the standings, allowing them to lift the regional trophy over Chase Academic Foundation by virtue of a superior net goal difference accumulated during earlier pool matches.
