Barbados: Triple Fatal Shooting at St. Michael Bar
We begin with tragic news out of Barbados, where three people have been killed and eight others injured following a mass shooting early Friday morning. According to police, the incident occurred just before 2:00 a.m. at the Majestic Bar on Nelson Street, St. Michael.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, while six others with gunshot wounds are currently receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Two additional males with less severe injuries are being treated on-site.
Police say the violence erupted when three masked men armed with firearms entered the bar and opened fire on patrons. Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce has since extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a full and speedy recovery.
Trinidad & Tobago: Government Issues Flood Warning Amid Orange Alert
In Trinidad and Tobago, the government is on high alert following an Orange Level Riverine Flood warning issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, which remains in effect until 6 p.m. today.
Speaking at a Cabinet press briefing, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen said torrential rainfall, high winds, and widespread flooding have severely impacted several communities. She warned of additional risks, including collapsed roadways, damaged homes, and agricultural losses due to overland flooding.
“The riverine levels are already quite high, the soil is very saturated, and we are very concerned about potential damage,” Minister Ameen stated.
Farmers across the country have also reported major crop and livestock losses, raising concerns about food security and rural livelihoods.
International: Israel Strikes Iran in Escalating Military Action
In international news, Israel launched targeted military strikes on Iran Thursday night, reportedly hitting nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, and military command sites in a declared campaign to thwart Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
Iranian state media and eyewitnesses reported explosions at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, and the elite Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the death of its top commander, Hussein Salami.
In response, Iran vowed retaliation, and Israel declared a national state of emergency, bracing for possible missile and drone strikes. State media also confirmed civilian casualties, including children killed in residential areas of Tehran following Israeli strikes.
