Trinidad & Tobago: Police Probe Three Weekend Murders, Including Killing of Man Who Intervened in Dispute
Police in Trinidad and Tobago are investigating three separate fatal shootings that occurred over the weekend, one of which claimed the life of a 38-year-old Caroni man who was gunned down after intervening in an argument involving his brother.
The victim, Gabriel Simon of Main Road, Kelly Village, was shot dead outside a bar around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday. According to police, Simon had earlier stepped in to separate his brother and a woman who were engaged in a dispute inside the Safe Landing Bar on Caroni South Bank Road.
After the situation appeared to de-escalate, Simon stepped outside to smoke. Roughly 15 minutes later, patrons heard multiple gunshots. Simon was discovered in the car park with several gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Investigators recovered a 9mm projectile and three 9mm spent casings stamped โTTR,โ suggesting they may be Trinidad and Tobago Regimentโissued ammunition. No arrests have yet been made.
