GuyExpo 2025, themed “Transformation Through Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” officially opened on Thursday evening with a grand ceremony and record turnout at the National Exhibition Centre, Sophia. Thousands of patrons—from business leaders to families—poured into the venue to witness Guyana’s largest business, cultural, and tourism exposition.

President Irfaan Ali, delivering the keynote address, highlighted the significant transformation of Guyana’s manufacturing sector over the decades.

“In 1991, manufacturing output stood at US$13.1 million—down from US$71.7 million just a decade earlier,”
the President noted, underscoring the sector’s recovery and renewed growth driven by innovation and investment.

President Ali credited his Cabinet for helping drive national development forward, emphasizing unity and the government’s aggressive push toward modernisation.

A special video presentation featuring former Ministers of Tourism commemorated GuyExpo’s 30th anniversary, calling on the new administration to build on the rich legacy of the event and to continue supporting local enterprise and tourism expansion.

Largest Exhibitor Turnout in Expo’s History

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, highlighted several major upgrades for the 2025 edition:

  • 297 exhibitors occupying 305 booths — the highest participation ever.
  • A reimagined layout, including:
    • Two auditoriums
    • Expanded recreational zones
    • A larger tourism village
    • Improved booth sequencing for smoother patron flow

“This year’s exposition mirrors the dynamic development trajectory that Guyana has experienced since 2020—driven by innovation, investment, and resilience,”
Minister Rodrigues stated.

As part of the 30th anniversary celebration, 13 legacy exhibitors—companies that have participated since GuyExpo’s inception—will be honoured.

Private Sector Praises Ministry’s Execution

Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) President Rafi Khan commended the Ministry for its speed and efficiency in organising the massive event.

“We were given this opportunity six weeks ago, and what we’ve achieved in such a short time is remarkable,”
Khan said.

With GuyExpo 2025 now officially open, thousands more are expected to attend over the next three days for business networking, cultural showcases, entertainment, and product exhibitions that highlight Guyana’s fast-growing economy.
