In a historic and emotionally charged ceremony, Nanaa Kwesi Ntow, known in Guyana as Carl Fraser of Eldorado Village, Berbice, was officially coronated as the Apagyahehen (Developmental Chief) of Kormantse, a culturally rich village located in Ghana’s Central Region.

The coronation — a five-day observance steeped in sacred traditional rites, ancestral rituals, and cultural symbolism — marked a moment of profound unity between Africa and the Caribbean. The people of Kormantse conferred the revered title upon Nanaa Kwesi Ntow in recognition of his outstanding contributions to cultural unity, community empowerment, and developmental leadership.

His installation as Apagyahehen represents a powerful reconnection between Ghana and Guyana, two nations bound by shared ancestry and history through the transatlantic legacy. The ceremony was widely celebrated as a renewal of African-Caribbean kinship, reflecting the growing movement among descendants of the African diaspora to reclaim their ancestral heritage.

As Developmental Chief, Nanaa Kwesi Ntow will lead new initiatives centered on education, entrepreneurship, and cultural revitalization, aimed at uplifting the people of Kormantse and fostering greater collaboration between Africa and the Caribbean.

Cultural leaders have hailed his appointment as a significant milestone in advancing diaspora engagement, heritage tourism, and cross-continental exchange, strengthening the historical and spiritual bond between Guyanese and Ghanaians.
