DEPUTY COMMISSIONER BUDHRAM TELLS THEM: “EVERY CHALLENGE IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GROW”

Georgetown, Guyana – September 25, 2025 – The Guyana Police Force officially added 109 fresh ranks to its strength on Thursday, September 25, 2025, following a rigorous six-month training programme that culminated in a proud graduation ceremony at the Officer’s Training Centre, Eve Leary.

Deputy Commissioner of Administration, Ravindradat Budhram, delivered the keynote address, urging the recruits to embrace both the hardships and responsibilities of their new calling. “Every challenge is an opportunity to grow and learn,” he said, reminding the young officers that policing is not about perfection, but about unwavering commitment, integrity, and compassion.

The ceremony saw Apprentice Navin Persaud rise to the top as valedictorian, recognised for exceptional discipline and perseverance. Awards for Best Student went to Constable Adams (Course 395), Apprentice Persaud (Course 396), Constable Andrew (Course 397), and Woman Constable Daniels (Course 398). Best Classroom accolades were given to Constables Teixeira, Mangal, Haynes, and Woman Constable Khan, while Best Drill honours went to Constables Harcourt, December, Edwards, and Woman Constable Abrams.

Senior officers, family members, and well-wishers filled the venue, with Woman Senior Superintendent Dr. Nicola Kendall, Woman Superintendent Leslyn Smith, and Senior Superintendent Bharat Persaud among the distinguished attendees. The event marked not only the graduation of new ranks, but also a symbolic passing of the torch, as Guyana’s next generation of law enforcers pledged their service to the nation.
