DAY 46 ELECTION FRAUD TRIAL…OFFICER DETAILS HANDLING OF 16 VIDEO FILES

Day 46 of the Election Fraud Trial resumed on Wednesday before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where a police officer testified about handling key video evidence central to the case.

Police Officer Junior Blair told the court that, while performing duties on August 24, 2020, he was instructed by the Major Crimes Unit to meet the prosecution witness, Bibi Anieshaw Mohamed. Mohamed handed over a mobile phone containing 16 video files, which Blair said he downloaded onto his laptop, stored them in a folder, and later transferred them to a disc.

When the Prosecution moved to tender the disc into evidence, Defence Attorney Ronald Daniels objected, insisting that the defence must first be allowed to examine its contents.

Magistrate McGusty noted that the court had received no correspondence from the defence regarding outstanding disclosures, a communication expected by 15:00 hrs on Tuesday. She also pointed out that documents filed on June 15, 2020, had already been uplifted by Defence Attorney Eusi Anderson, emphasizing her intention to ensure the proceedings move forward without unnecessary delay.

The court then proceeded into a voir dire, during which Detective Sergeant Alwin Jones—a videographer—testified about conducting a recorded interview with Enrique Livan during a confrontation involving former Minister Robeson Benn. Attorney Anderson subsequently cross-examined Jones.

Later in the afternoon session, the defence raised concerns that earlier copies of Mohamed’s spreadsheet evidence were unclear. Updated, legible copies were printed and distributed to all parties.

Mohamed is expected to return to the stand on November 27 to conclude her testimony before facing cross-examination.

The charges in this case arise from investigations into alleged efforts to manipulate the March 2020 General and Regional Elections. Nine individuals—including former Region Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo, former Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield, and former Deputy CEO Roxanne Myers—face 19 conspiracy-related charges. The Prosecution has indicated it intends to call approximately 73 witnesses before the trial concludes.
