APNU AND WIN REGION 10 MP’S TO ADVOCATE FOR EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT AND RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION

Newly sworn-in Member of Parliament Sharma Solomon says he intends to push for the fair distribution of national resources and balanced development across Region 10, which he believes has been marginalised for far too long.

During an interview with HGP Nightly News, Solomon—who serves as Shadow Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency, and Natural Resourcesstated that his focus will be on ensuring that development-related issues in Linden and surrounding communities receive the attention they deserve at the national level.

“We must ensure that the issues affecting people in Region 10, which have reflected themselves in marginalisation and inequitable resource distribution, are addressed,” Solomon stated.

The former Mayor of Linden emphasized that political affiliation should never determine development, stressing that all citizens deserve equal access to national resources and opportunities.

“These are issues we can now bring to the National Assembly so that the people of Linden can have proper, strong representation on these matters from the grassroots level,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ryan Richards, a We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) parliamentarian representing Linden, echoed similar sentiments, lamenting the poor state of sports facilities and unreliable water supply in the region.

Dr. Richards, a dentist by profession, said that while he welcomes ongoing works at the Mackenzie Sports Complex—which is being upgraded into a stadium—and the development of the Bayrock synthetic track, many community grounds in areas such as Mackenzie and Retrieve remain neglected and overgrown.

“More needs to be done. We have a host of community fields that need enhancement,” Dr. Richards stated.

He also highlighted chronic issues with water access, noting that residents in Prosville, Amelia’s Ward, and Retrieve continue to experience long periods without water and a poor-quality supply.

“For the past two days, water was just restored in Amelia’s Ward after being out for nearly a week. I live in Retrieve—we cannot get 24-hour water supply, and the water that comes out of the tap is filthy,” he lamented.

Dr. Richards reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for equitable development in Region 10, emphasizing that marginalisation and infrastructural neglect must be addressed urgently.

“I will continue to work assiduously to ensure that Region 10 receives the attention and investment it deserves,” he pledged.

Both MPs have vowed to utilize their parliamentary platforms to amplify the voices of residents in Region 10, championing issues of resource fairness, public service delivery, and community development.
