AFC SEARS IN CUSTODY AFTER COPS FIND OVER 600 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA

LINDEN – In a sensational development that has shocked the political landscape, former Alliance For Change (AFC) Member of Parliament (MP), Devin Sears, is in police custody after being caught with a massive haul of over 600 pounds of marijuana in a minibus late Monday night.

The dramatic bust occurred around 8:41 PM at the Bamia Police Checkpoint on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, where police ranks on mobile patrol stopped the minibus, BAJ 4486 (which is reportedly the property of the Region Ten Tourism Committee Inc.).

The vehicle was being driven by 39-year-old Sears, a well-known Linden politician, who was accompanied by a male passenger, Albert Sandy. Police say the suspicious behavior of the two men prompted a search that led to the discovery of the colossal quantity of cannabis.

The two men were immediately arrested and cautioned. According to police, the responsibility for the trafficking scheme was immediately split: Sears “remained silent,” while the passenger, Sandy, “admitted ownership, stating that the narcotics belonged to him and that he had paid Devin to transport him to Parika.”

“Both Sears and Sandy were taken to the Mackenzie Police Station along with the 600-pound marijuana haul. Charges are expected to be laid soon.
