Police are on the hunt for a 23-year-old woman who is wanted for the fatal stabbing of her reputed husband during a domestic altercation in B Field, Sophia, on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Akeem Evans, also of B Field, Sophia. His alleged attacker is Jenoria “Heaven” Browne, who reportedly fled the scene after the incident.
According to police reports, the fatal confrontation occurred in the lower flat of the couple’s home, which Evans’ parents own. Witnesses said they saw Evans run out of the yard clutching his chest and bleeding heavily, shouting that his wife had stabbed him.
A resident told HGP Nightly News that moments later, Browne was seen running from the yard in tears but refused to say what had happened.
Evans was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. His body, bearing a single stab wound to the left side of the chest, is currently at the GPHC Mortuary.
Family members of the deceased told Nightly News that Browne had a history of aggression and was often the instigator in the relationship.

However, Browne, who has since contacted Nightly News via telephone, is claiming self-defense, alleging that she had suffered years of physical abuse at the hands of Evans and that the fatal stabbing resulted from yet another violent altercation.
“I didn’t mean to kill him,” Browne reportedly said, insisting that she acted only to protect herself.
The 23-year-old has since indicated her intention to surrender to the police in the company of her attorney.
Meanwhile, investigators continue to probe the incident, which has once again drawn attention to the ongoing scourge of domestic violence in Guyana.
