‘WIN WILL REMAIN STRONG IF ITS LEADER IS EXTRADITED’, G.S PRIMUS SAYS US INDICTMENT WAS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED

The We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) political party states that it will remain resilient and united, even if its leader, Azruddin Mohamed, is extradited to the United States to face criminal charges.

Speaking with HGPTV Nightly News outside the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday—shortly after Mohamed’s arrest on an extradition request from U.S. authorities—WIN General Secretary Odessa Primus assured that the party’s leadership structure remains strong and capable of withstanding both political and legal storms.

“We were elected by the people, and the party will go on,”
Primus declared confidently.

She explained that WIN’s executive team has been functioning cohesively since its inception, and that several competent representatives are ready to step forward to continue the party’s work in Parliament and across Guyana.

“Even during the campaign, Mr. Mohamed made it clear that WIN is not about one man—it’s about a movement that wants to do right by the people,” she emphasized.

Primus went on to allege that the 11-count U.S. grand jury indictment against Mohamed and his father, Nazar ‘Shell’ Mohamed, is politically motivated, accusing elements within the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) of attempting to discredit WIN’s leadership and derail its growing national support.

“It is obvious to anyone watching that there are people in this country who are sanctioned, yet walking free. But when it comes to Azruddin, suddenly he’s a threat,” she remarked.

Both Azruddin and Nazar Mohamed—principals of Mohamed’s Enterprise—were sanctioned by the U.S. Government in 2024 for alleged corruption and gold smuggling. They were arrested on Friday after U.S. prosecutors filed an extradition request to have them face charges of wire fraud and money laundering.

The case reportedly centers around gold exports and the importation of a luxury Lamborghini, which investigators claim were linked to illicit financial activities.

After appearing before Magistrate Judy Latchman, both men were granted bail for $150,000 each and are scheduled to return to court on November 10, 2025, for the continuation of the extradition proceedings.

“WIN is here to stay,” Primus affirmed. “Our leader’s vision and commitment to the people will continue—no matter what obstacles are placed in our way.”
