V-PAC FIRES BACK, RUBISHES FG & PM CLAOMS ON PARLIAMENTARY SEAT ALLOCATION ROTATION, CALLS THEM DUPLICITOUS

The political rift within the recently dissolved three-party coalition continues to intensify, with Francis Bailey, the General Secretary of the Vigilant Political Action Committee (V-PAC), issuing a sharp rebuttal to statements made by Forward Guyana (FG) and The People’s Movement (PM).

Bailey strongly disputed claims made by leaders Amansa Walton-Desir (Forward Guyana) and Nigel London (People’s Movement), insisting that both are misrepresenting prior agreements regarding the rotation of the coalition’s lone parliamentary seat.

Speaking during a livestream, Bailey said the leaders’ recent statements are “inconsistent with the truth,” accusing them of dishonesty, duplicity, and self-serving behavior.

“With regard to leader of the list — Amansa, you’re there on recording. You agreed to make me leader of the list.”

Bailey argued that before the 2025 General & Regional Elections, all three coalition partners had a clear understanding:
If the coalition secured one seat, it would be rotated equally among the partners.

According to him, there was no objection from Walton-Desir or London at the time. But after the election, which resulted in the coalition winning a single parliamentary seat, he said their positions suddenly shifted.

“We could not get from them a yes or no… After the election Amansa now tried to change things up.”

Bailey claimed the reversal is now threatening to “destroy a beautiful movement,” accusing both leaders of prioritizing their own interests over the coalition’s commitments.

He further alleged that Walton-Desir personally asked him if he would be willing to serve in Parliament — a question he said proves she knew that rotation was the agreed-upon arrangement.

“Even if it came down to one seat, we would rotate that.”

FG & PM sever ties

Earlier this week, both Forward Guyana and The People’s Movement announced that they have severed all ties with V-PAC, citing what they described as “unbecoming conduct” by Bailey and the organization.

The coalition’s original agreement expired on September 2, 2025. Attempts to renew it collapsed amid disputes over leadership, the rotation of the parliamentary seat, and internal disagreements that were aired publicly on social media.

The political fallout shows no sign of easing, as both sides continue to present conflicting accounts of their private pre-election discussions.
