UNIVERSAL CHURCH FIRES PASTOR AFTER VIRAL PARKING CONFRONTATION ‘WE ALWAYS TEACH PEACE NOT WAR’

After a viral and widely condemned confrontation with a driver in Georgetown, a pastor of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God has been dismissed from his post, and the church’s leadership has issued a public apology.

The incident occurred on Monday outside the church’s Charlotte and Wellington Streets location and was captured on video before rapidly spreading across social media. The footage shows the pastor aggressively confronting a motorist, banging on the vehicle, and blocking the driver from leaving, while insisting that the roadway outside the church constituted “private property” where parking was not allowed.

On Wednesday, Pastor Dillipchan Bikharie, President of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in Guyana, issued an official apology to the public and confirmed that the pastor involved has been fired.

Bikharie explained that while the church acted swiftly, the Board was unable to take disciplinary action sooner because a full meeting was required before a final decision could be made.

He reiterated that the behavior seen in the video does not reflect the church’s teachings, stating firmly that the Universal Church stands for peace, respect, and proper conduct.

Meanwhile, Georgetown Mayor Alfred Mentore has made it clear that the church had no exclusive authority over parking in the area and had never been granted any right to restrict motorists from using the public roadway. Following the confrontation, city officials removed several objects that had reportedly been placed on the parapet to deter parking.

The Universal Church has not yet released the name of the pastor involved.
