Guyana continues to expand its footprint on the global tourism stage, recording the highest increase in visitor arrivals in the Caribbean for 2025—an impressive 18% jump between January and July compared to the same period last year.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Susan Rodrigues, speaking on the sector’s progress, said the figures reflect strong momentum and rising international interest in Destination Guyana.

“For the first time, Guyana is expected to surpass 400,000 visitor arrivals by the end of 2025,” she announced, noting that sustained growth is projected for years ahead.

With this expansion, the Minister emphasized the need to continuously develop tourism products that are sustainable, inclusive, and directly connected to Guyanese heritage and communities.

The Guyana Tourism Authority, in partnership with the Ministry, has launched several new initiatives—among them tourism and hospitality training for police officers, positioning frontline personnel as ambassadors of the national brand.

Rodrigues also highlighted the ministry’s new public awareness campaign: “Tourism Is Everybody’s Business.” She said the booming oil-and-gas economy will drive exponential growth in business travel and other tourism sectors, making national hospitality readiness essential.

Additionally, Guyana’s national calendar of events has been revamped to feature more major festivals and cultural showcases, broadening international promotion and strengthening the country’s status as a leading destination in the region.

The Ministry has also drafted several tourism-related bills that will soon be tabled in Parliament, as the government pushes toward legislative modernization of the sector.

Guyana’s tourism sector, the Minister assured, is on a firm upward trajectory—modernizing, expanding, and positioning itself among the Caribbean’s top-performing destinations.
