The opposition People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) has raised alarm, claiming fake Statements of Poll (SOPs) influenced election results. However, APNU+AFC GECOM Commissioner Vincent Alexander dismissed these allegations, asserting that GECOM’s official results were not based on or influenced by any fraudulent documents.
Alexander clarified that the elections body relied solely on authentic and verified Statements of Poll, ensuring the integrity of the declared results. He revealed that GECOM has launched an investigation to identify the origin of the fake SOPs circulating in public.
“The results published by GECOM had nothing to do with these fake Statements of Poll. We stand by our process and have begun probing their source,” Alexander emphasized.
The PPP/C continues to voice concerns, maintaining that electoral integrity has been compromised, while GECOM reassures citizens of the transparency and legitimacy of the election outcome.
