RULING ON HIGH COURT CASE BROUGHT BY FGM AGAINST GECOM SET FOR FRIDAY

By Marvin Cato | HGP Nightly News

Acting Chief Justice Navindra Singh is expected to deliver his ruling on Friday in the high-profile case brought by the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM).

The case challenges the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) over its decision to exclude FGM from participating in three of Guyana’s ten Administrative Regions for the upcoming elections.

The matter, closely monitored by observers and political stakeholders, has raised questions about fair representation and electoral inclusivity.

FGM’s leaders argue that their exclusion undermines democracy and the constitutional right of Guyanese citizens to have a full range of choices at the polls.

The ruling could set a critical precedent for how GECOM administers ballot access ahead of the September 1 elections.
