V-PAC Accuses Forward Guyana Movement of Breaking Pact on Parliamentary Seat
By Marvin Cato | HGP Nightly News
The fragile unity within the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) appears to be under strain, as one of its member groups — the Vision for Progressive Action Coalition (V-PAC) — has publicly accused the coalition of “tearing up the pact.”
At the center of the dispute is the agreement to rotate the coalition’s single parliamentary seat among its three constituent parties. V-PAC leaders now claim that FGM representatives have backtracked on this commitment, raising questions about trust and transparency in the coalition.
Observers note that the dispute threatens to fracture the coalition’s credibility, just weeks after it pledged to bring a fresh, united voice to Guyana’s political landscape.
The allegations further intensify tensions that began surfacing after the September 1 elections, with member parties jockeying for influence as parliamentary seats and leadership roles are finalized.
Whether mediation can salvage the coalition remains unclear, but critics warn that failure to honor agreements could undermine voter confidence in the Forward Guyana Movement as we advance.
