PROMISES AND POWER: PPP/C UNVEILS MANIFESTO WITH BIG PLANS FOR ROADS, SCHOOLS, AND CLEAN GOVERNMENT

PPP/C Bets Big on Infrastructure and Education in 2025 Manifesto

By Antonio reporting | HGP Nightly News.

President Irfaan Ali and the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) are making infrastructure the centerpiece of their 2025 election manifesto. From highways cutting across Guyana’s heartland to bridges spanning major rivers, the party is casting concrete and steel as the foundation for national prosperity.

Among the major projects promised are the long-awaited Linden Highway, a four-lane Berbice River Bridge, expanded corridors to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, and even a deep-water port in Berbice.

But perhaps the most emotionally charged pledge lies in education. The PPP/C is promising free tuition at the University of Guyana, unlimited scholarships, government-paid fees for up to eight CSEC or CAPE subjects, and the construction of more than 100 new schools outfitted with modern labs and digital classrooms.

The manifesto also tackles corruption, with proposals for a dedicated anti-corruption unit using blockchain tracking systems, full enforcement of the Access to Information Act, and streamlined procurement rules. Still, critics note that Guyanese have heard such pledges before, only to see transparency fall to scandal.

Other commitments include the creation of 40,000 new homes, a smart monitoring system for infrastructure, and a balanced energy strategy combining oil and gas with renewable investments.

Ultimately, the PPP/C is asking voters for trust—trust that Guyana’s wealth will deliver not just new roads and homes, but a future free from corruption and poverty.
