Forward Guyana Leader Challenges PPP Job Creation Claims

Forward Guyana Movement Presidential Candidate Amanza Walton-Desir is questioning the ruling PPP/C Government’s claim that it has created over 60,000 jobs since taking office.
Pointing to a billboard touting the figure, Walton-Desir demanded evidence, asking where the jobs are and what quality they represent.
“They boasted about employing 40,000 as 10-day workers. So where are the other 10,000 jobs? And what is the caliber of these jobs?” she asked.
Walton-Desir further accused the administration of engaging in propaganda, saying repeated claims without proof do not make them accurate.
She stressed that efforts in Parliament to obtain detailed data on job creation have been unsuccessful, alleging that the system is plagued by corruption and inflated lists.
In its 2020 manifesto, the PPP/C had pledged to replace the 30,000 jobs it said were lost under APNU+AFC, with a commitment to create 50,000 new opportunities—particularly for young people.
