POLICE HUNT WOMAN AFTER MAN STABBED TO DEATH IN ‘B’ FIELD, SOPHIA

GEORGETOWN – A domestic dispute turned deadly on Wednesday evening in ‘B’ Field, Sophia, when 25-year-old labourer Akeem Evans was fatally stabbed during an argument with his reputed wife. The incident occurred around 18:10 hours, leaving the close-knit community in shock and sparking a police manhunt for the woman, who reportedly fled from the hospital moments after the attack.

Police said Evans and his 23-year-old reputed wife, a housewife of the same address, lived in the lower flat of a two-storey concrete house owned by his parents. According to investigators, an argument broke out between the couple, during which Evans was stabbed once in the chest.

The details surrounding what triggered the dispute remain under investigation.Public-spirited residents rushed to help after hearing screams. They assisted in transporting both the injured man and the suspect to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Upon arrival, doctors pronounced Evans dead, while the woman, who was initially taken for treatment and questioning, reportedly escaped from the facility before police could detain her. The victim’s body has since been transferred to the GPHC mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Police investigators are continuing their search for the suspect and have pledged to bring her to justice.The incident has reignited public concern over the rising number of domestic violence cases that end in tragedy.

Residents of ‘B’ Field described Evans as quiet and hardworking, saying the couple’s relationship had shown signs of strain in recent weeks. Police are urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward as the investigation continues.
