PARAG VISITS DAVID ROSE SCHOOL, APOLOGISES TO FAMILY AFTER ABUSE VIDEO

HGP Nightly News – Education Minister Sonia Parag on Thursday visited the David Rose School for Special Education, where she met with the parents and relatives of the student directly affected by a video that allegedly showed mistreatment at the institution.

The Minister also met with the Head Teacher and other staff members as the Ministry of Education continues its investigation into the incident.

Parag said she listened to the concerns raised by the affected family and assured them that the matter is being treated with urgency and seriousness.

The Ministry’s Welfare Unit, Special Education Needs Department, and administrative team are now involved in the investigation.

According to Parag, decisive action will be taken against anyone found to have been involved, whether directly or indirectly.

The Minister also reaffirmed the Ministry’s zero-tolerance policy against abuse within the school system.

She said every child must be treated with dignity, patience, care, and protection while under the supervision of educational institutions. She placed particular emphasis on children with special educational needs, who require safe, supportive, and properly supervised learning environments.

Parag also apologised to the affected families for the distress and pain caused by the incident.

The teachers involved in the matter remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Minister said they will be subjected to the full disciplinary processes available to the Ministry of Education. She also noted that, where necessary and appropriate, the matter may carry further legal consequences.

The latest update follows public outrage over the video and growing calls for stronger safeguards, oversight, and accountability within special education institutions.

The Ministry has said a further update will be provided.
