ONE YEAR LATER, PNCR/APNU SAYS QUESTIONS STILL HAUNT ADRIANNA CASE

The PNCR/APNU is renewing calls for justice in the death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge, saying that one year after the tragedy at the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen, too many questions remain unanswered and accountability is still absent.

In a statement marking the anniversary of the child’s death, the party said the pain surrounding the case has not eased. “One year later, the pain of her loss remains raw… and the wound of injustice remains open,” the statement said, as it pointed again to the troubling circumstances under which Adrianna’s body was found.

The opposition noted that Adrianna was reported missing on April 23, 2025, and that her body was discovered nearly 20 hours later in a hotel pool that, according to previous reports, had already been searched. Against that backdrop, the party said major questions still hover over the sequence of events, asking, “Why was Adrianna’s body not discovered sooner in a confined space that was allegedly searched?”

PNCR/APNU also cited concerns about conflicting accounts and the overall handling of the investigation, arguing that the case continues to raise serious doubts in the minds of many Guyanese. In its view, the passage of time without criminal charges has only deepened public concern and added to the sense that justice has not been served.

The party said the matter should now be reopened with independent oversight and pressed for full transparency from the Guyana Police Force. It also called for accountability not only for anyone directly responsible, but for all those who may have failed in their duties, including hotel management and any police officers found to have acted negligently.

“Justice delayed is justice denied,” the statement said, as the PNCR/APNU urged the country not to allow the case to fade without answers. It also called for stronger safety regulations and wider national unity in demanding justice for Adrianna, whose death continues to weigh heavily on the public conscience one year later.
