HGP Nightly News – In a rapid and unexpected development, a Trinidadian national who was recently cleared of cybercrime allegations has reportedly been detained by immigration authorities and deported from Guyana.
Gabriel Harrigin was asked to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, he was instead met by immigration officials who took him into custody.
He was subsequently processed for removal and placed on the next available flight back to Trinidad and Tobago.
The deportation follows Mr. Harrigin’s recent arrest and investigation after several young women complained that intimate photos and videos were shared online without their consent. He was later released from those charges.
It remains unclear whether the deportation is related to a violation of his immigration status, such as overstaying his permitted time in the country. Sources indicate he had been seeking local employment.
Neither the Guyana Police Force nor the Guyana Immigration Authority has issued an official statement regarding the reason for the swift deportation action.
