HGPTV is set to shine brightly this Friday evening when three of its talents are honoured at the DemRoc Music and Entertainment Awards, hosted at the National Cultural Centre.

Investigative journalist Travis Chase will receive the prestigious Harbour Journalism Award, recognising his impactful reporting, fearless investigations, and continued contributions to media excellence in Guyana.

Two other HGPTV personalities — Melody Thomas and Delwin “NEB” Neblett — have also secured major nominations for their work in music, culture, and creative media.

A Night to Celebrate Guyanese Talent

Event coordinator and founder Shawn “DemRoc” McAllister — a Guyanese-American music producer and entrepreneur — sat down with Nightly News to preview the awards, which will feature 23 categories and 75 nominees, honouring artists, media personalities, podcasters, producers, and cultural influencers.

“We have people that we’re honouring like Timeka Marshall, Jomo, and a few more,”
McAllister noted.

He said this year’s event includes dedicated categories for podcasters and media workers, ensuring a broad cross-section of Guyanese creatives are recognised.

HGPTV Talent in the Spotlight

Alongside Chase’s prestigious award, HGPTV’s creatives have captured the attention of the awards panel:

  • Melody Thomas, content creator and co-host of Inside Culture, has been nominated for:
    • Best Reggae Female Artist of the Year
    • Best Culture Podcast of the Year (shared with Delwin “NEB” Neblett)
  • Delwin “NEB” Neblett, Nightly News Sports Anchor and content creator, is also nominated for Best Culture Podcast of the Year for his work on Inside Culture.

Thomas is also the face of HGPTV’s Red Room, further cementing her influence in the creative and entertainment sectors.

DemRoc’s Mission: Elevating Guyanese Creatives

McAllister created the DemRoc Music and Entertainment platform after launching his “Rep 592” compilation album series in 2016, which now spans 11 volumes on Audiomack.

“Over the years, artistes have gotten better, and I just wanted to create a platform where our creatives are celebrated the best way I know,”
he said.

The name “DemRoc” is inspired by Demerara and Wisroc in Linden, a nod to his roots. Though he now resides in Atlanta, McAllister says he proudly represents Guyana everywhere.

“I am pushing the envelope on artist development… I’m focused on the overall growth of our music and entertainment industry.”

The red carpet ceremony kicks off on Friday, November 14, promising a night of glamour, recognition, and celebration of Guyanese excellence.
