New ‘Secure Eye’ App Empowers Citizens to Report Crime and Accidents Instantly
By HGP Nightly News
GUYANA — Imagine being able to stop a robbery, report a crash, or even save a life—all from your mobile phone. That’s now a reality with the launch of “Secure Eye”, a high-tech mobile app unveiled by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) aimed at revolutionizing how citizens report emergencies and help police respond faster.
The app was introduced on Tuesday during the 2025 National Road Safety Stakeholder Forum and is already being hailed as a potential game-changer for public safety and policing in Guyana.
What Is Secure Eye?
Developed under the Ministry of Home Affairs and led by analyst Prius Paul, Secure Eye is designed to connect directly with the GPF Command Center and all regional police stations. The app allows users to report:
- Crimes in progress
- Traffic accidents
- Suspicious activity
…all in real time, while sending precise GPS coordinates to law enforcement.
“Most people just film accidents and post them on social media,” Paul noted. “But what if you could do more than post? What if that same video could help save a life?”
From Passive Bystander to First Responder
Too often, valuable footage of crime scenes or car crashes ends up going viral online—but not being used for real help. Secure Eye flips that script.
Now, instead of just sharing to your status or feed, you can report an incident instantly, share evidence securely, and trigger an immediate police response. The app’s built-in GPS ensures that officers know exactly where to go, reducing guesswork and delays.
Faster Response, More Lives Saved
According to Paul, the app was created in direct response to growing public frustration over slow emergency response times, unclear reporting channels, and the sheer number of avoidable fatalities on Guyana’s roads.
“Every year, too many lives are lost. Not because help wasn’t available—but because it didn’t get there fast enough. Secure Eye changes that,” he emphasized.
What This Means for Public Safety
With a growing population, busier roadways, and rising security concerns, the GPF believes Secure Eye could be the digital upgrade the country’s policing system desperately needs. It also reflects a wider shift towards community-driven, tech-enabled policing, where every citizen has a role to play.
“This is not just an app. This is a tool that gives the people power to protect each other,” Paul added.
Now available for download on major app stores, Secure Eye is the next step in modernizing Guyana’s emergency response ecosystem.
