As Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues under the theme “Act Now, Live Strong,” Minister Manickchand is calling on women to empower themselves with knowledge, take advantage of free services, and ensure they get screened.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand, has joined the Ministry of Health in urging women across Guyana to prioritize their health by getting regular mammograms.
The Minister reminded women that early detection can save lives and emphasized that free screening services are currently available through the Ministry of Health.
She said the campaign is not just about awareness but also about action, urging women to make use of available resources and prioritize preventative care.
According to the Ministry, breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women in Guyana. However, with early screening and treatment, survival rates significantly improve.
