Another execution-style killing has been recorded in the police crime files for A Division, following a deadly shooting on Thursday night in Albouystown, Georgetown.
Dead is Kevon Ridley, also known as “Arthur”, a resident of Albouystown, who was gunned down along James Street. According to police, Ridley was approached by a masked gunman who opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene on an XR motorcycle.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, told investigators that the attack appeared sudden and deliberate, leaving Ridley with no chance to escape.
Sources close to the investigation have indicated that the killing appears to have been retaliatory in nature. The shooting also left three other individuals injured. They were rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment, but their conditions remain unclear.
Ridley was previously known to law enforcement. In 2023, he was arrested during a police operation at Stabroek Market after being wanted for questioning in connection with a series of armed robberies. Police had also linked him to the discharge of a loaded firearm during an incident on Lime Street, Werk-en-Rust, in December of that year.
During the 2023 raid, Ridley was found in possession of a small quantity of cannabis and was taken into custody at the Brickdam Police Station.
Police investigations into Thursday night’s killing are ongoing. No arrests have been made to date, and investigators are continuing to pursue leads to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
